Of course EDI had to be “sexy”, not to mention hook up with the one human male I genuinely thought was a perfect match for Shepard.
Am I the only one on Tumblr who finds this…
SPOILERS AHEAD BECAUSE OF MY RESPONSES TO THE HIDDEN CUT STUFF.
1. I am disappointed with the highly sexualized body given EDI. (Though this could, I hope, be turned into a statement by Bioware through in-game dialogue, etc., about precisely the fact that whenever a female is designed - as EDI must be, being a robot - they are sexualized. They pointed out subtly that Miranda was hot as shit precisely because she was designed.)
2. I am disappointed with some of the commentors who have flown off the handle and taken Joker’s relationship with EDI as a jab at the idea of Joker as becoming defined as ‘antisocial-because-of-his-difference’ by saying that relationships with AIs/computers = bad. As someone who is in a long distance relationship with someone with whom I can only connect and have ever connected with using the Internet (read: my computer) as a platform, I have to raise my brows at the people grabbing their pitchforks because this is, by default, A Bad Thing And How Could They Do That To Joker?!. So far in the spoilers, there is no indication that Joker is somehow ‘settling’ with EDI because his syndrome prevents him from forming another relationship. There’s no whiff of that at all. If there is, I’ll be the first to throw up my hands. But as it stands, Joker is still the amazing character he is - and now, I suspect, he’s going to become even more amazing by pushing ME-verse understanding of romantic relationships with non-humans to a new level. If he’s happy, as I am with my partner, intelligence and emotions I experience through a digital interface, what’s not to love?
3. I am disappointed that Joker won’t be an available option for my manShep to romance, but c’est la vie.
